I mile runngin review on the New Balance Ellipse v1 - soft, bouncy and very responsive daily trainer
Hal Kearney with Radcliffe’s Run Walk, we got a request in from a friend up in South Jersey. He requested we give the new Ellipse from New Balance a little 1-mile test run, and we also got a couple questions in the comments. So, as soon as we get done with our trial, we'll we'll read those questions and try to get some answers for you guys.
Okay, 1 mile done. Time to give a quick review. So, the New Balance Ellipse version 1, apparently. Super fresh, light feeling, very breathable. Feels kind of like a little brother to the 1080, but it's got a little more bounce, I think, than the older 1080s.
More relevant to the new one 1080 v15. It is Fresh Foam X in a size 12 medium, we're looking at 10.7 oz. So, it is very light. It's got a lot of grip I was pretty surprised at the outsole and how it held onto the treadmill. Very comfortable, very lightweight, very springy, ideal for a smaller, more efficient runner, maybe not the heavy plodder, kind of like me. But, um overall, very very nice. I was kind of surprised. I didn't expect that kind of feel out of it. So, this is really a great shoe to try out if you're into a little bit quicker running pace and looking for something a little sportier looking. Fantastic fitting and feeling shoe. It's been it's been very well received so far.
One of the questions we got in the comments last week was why just 1-mile review. And the reason that is because I do my best efficiency mile in the first mile. After that, depending on the wind and the weather, my stride just gets a little heavy. I get a little bit lazy in my stride. So, the first mile is always my best mile. So, I feel like I give it the best opportunity to give it a good, clean review in that first mile. Number two is I'm a big fan of Dave Portnoy and his 1-bite pizza reviews. I grew up in the Northeast. I'm very particular about pizza and I kind of like the same type of pizza he likes. I just kind of get a kick out of all his reviews. So, that's where we got the one the 1-mile review to play off of his 1-bite pizza review. Overall, it's been very good. Please keep sending in the comments. Send any shoes you want me to try.
